The Rules This should be easy for people to understand, yes? Basically, I'm a very laid back person as most of my staff will be able to tell you. I'm not a stickler for rules either, but there are a couple things I absolutely cannot stand to see when members are having a conflict. For one, if two members are arguing, I don't want anyone other than a staff member trying to get involved in it. You're only going to add fuel to the fire, no matter how good you think you are.
Secondly, I don't condone people bringing up any sort of past incidents you might know of for another member. This is a place of new beginnings, and I'm not exactly a pure kid myself, so play nice. When I sense that things are getting a bit intense, and no staff members are around, I will not hesitate to step in and take care of it myself. Please, settle any disputes on AIM, or you can even message me at thefinalrenegade to see if I can help you.
Thirdly, please don't target any other race or bring up political issues in any serious manner. I used to have this problem myself, but I'm not going to deal with it. If you try to call someone out by their race, I'll simply ban you and try to talk it out with you. Alrighty?
And finally, trolling. A touchy subject for some, but all in good fun. There is a fine line between trolling and seriously insulting someone, and even I don't know where the line is. If one of my staff members deems a certain scenario to be bad [hopefully without a biased opinion on the matter] they will step in. Hopefully these rules will be easy to abide by. When it comes to characters, we all know that it is only respectful to at least act somewhat like them. Then again, we also know that some people expect characters to act a certain way because 'it's canon'. It is possible to change a character through certain development, but how in the world do new members hope to keep updated on such things?
Profiles are kept for the purpose of keeping on top of other people's events and keeping track of their numbers. Some of us don't know what another character has gone through, and that forces on explanations that don't really fill in the plot holes. This site has thought of that and countered such a thing. We have something called the Main Line that will keep track of everything that goes on with every member.
As far as keeping yourself canon, I expect you to act like the character you are, whether canon or custom, until you develop the personality that you are striving for through the story. I'm not too strict on the rule, but it's mostly for the members enjoyment that you do this. Stay with the Main Line and everything should be fine in this field. Although I would originally allow mature content in my sight [obviously with precautions], the Proboards Terms and Conditions do not allow this. For the moment, this site is going to be a strict PG-13 board. As far as cussing and blood/gore goes, I'm sure I can be very fine with something like that. Any sexual themes, implied or otherwise, can quite frankly get you warned, or even banned depending on the intensity.
Do not get me wrong, I am usually fine with Mature threads if they are properly labeled, but I do not wish to be taken down due to some horndog getting ready for something. Just behave yourselves until I get enough money for a hosting site and we'll be smooth. This one has to be an obvious rule, but I'm going to explain it to those who are a bit fresher to the Roleplaying Universe. Godmodding is where you force your opponent to move in your own words, basically taking them over like a puppet. Of course, in your own RPs, you can control Non-Playable Characters all you want. In the midst of a battle, or in a roleplay, you cannot do such a thing unless you get the permission of the member you are associating yourself with.
An example of this would be as such:
Bardock pushed Frieza down onto his back and punched him in the damned face.
Now, that doesn't sound good, does it? Isn't it so unfair that I could just do that to Frieza and he has no say in the matter? Here's a better way to get it done:
Bardock attempted to push Frieza down onto his back, cocking back his fist to try and punch the purple alien's damned face.
A bit better, right? Now, we're going to move on to Metagaming. This is when your character acquires information out of nowhere about his opponent that he wouldn't normally know. This is a common case of 'OOC Tactics' that is usually revealed through the other person's RP, such as hiding a secret weapon. You can't anticipate something your character doesn't know about.
Here's an example: Bardock knew that Frieza hurt his back a week ago and had been hiding the pain, but now he was sure to feel the pain.
That's just plain idiotic. Bardock wouldn't know that because he was obvious getting the women, but you get my point. Godmodding and Metagaming will come with proper consequences.

Stats There are many different things you can earn in the world of Dragon Soul, all of which will further you along on the path to ultimate power. The most basic things you can earn in terms of rewards are: Rewards Levels [L] ~ Levels are the basic form of showing where you stand in terms of experience. This usually is a sign of being an active number if your level is higher than most, not to mention having high stats. An experience chart for leveling up can be found here, along with the rewards for going to the next level. Experience [XP] ~ As the name might signal, this is how much experience you have when dealing with daily disasters, countless murders, or just helping an old lady across the street. Earning XP on a daily basis will cause you to level up immensely, and is quite possibly the only way for your character to grow as a whole in terms of power growth. Zeni and Cyros [Z/C] ~ Since our known universe is split into two entities [The Terra Alliance of Earth, New Namek, and Vegeta, and the Frozen Empire of Cold, Frieza #79, and Kanassa] naturally they are going to have different types of currency. The Terra Alliance uses the monetary system of Zeni, which is usually in the form of coins made by a few of the most common metallic alloys or found in a paper-like form. The Frozen Alliance uses the monetary system of Cyros, which is usually found in the form of crystallic shards. You can tell how much they are worth by how many ounces they weigh. The exchange rate between Zeni and Cyros is 1 to 3. Evolution Points [EP] ~ Evolution Points are a regular type of reward that allows you to distribute a certain amount of points between your five stats. Remember that you cannot increase a stat unless your lowest stat is at least 20% of your highest. Knowledge Points [KP] ~ Knowledge Points can only be earned through leveling up, and they are the main tool to learning new techniques from the Dojo. It is wise to learn how you use your KP, because they are very exclusive in terms of earning. Stats Power Level ~ This is your main stat, which determines the average amount of power you have as a whole. It is calculated with this equation: [Strength + Ki + Will] / 3. Your power level is actually very important in carrying out most canon actions, such as not being able to blow up too much at certain PLs. Be sure to keep yourself on track, yes? Strength ~ This stat determines the power you can push out in any physical form. This stat is very important for close combat, and controls the damage you can deal out with basic strikes and physical rushes. Strength also determines the ability of being able to increase the power of basic strikes. Ki ~ This stat determines the energy you can control for any type of attack that involves Ki. This stat is very useful for fighting from long distances, and controls the damage you can shoot out with basic energy attacks and more complicated beams and blasts. Ki also determines the ability of being able to increase the power of basic energy attacks. Speed ~ This stat determines how swift you are on the field of battle and the flexibility of your body. This stat is very important for getting out of even the tightest of situations, and controls the possibility of evading attacks, large or small. Speed also determines how quickly you can slam out actions during a fight. Toughness ~ This stat determines how many hits you can manage to take during a battle. This stat is useful for blocking attacks, almost nullifying damage entirely in some cases, and controls the possibility of being able to survive for a longer period of time. Toughness also determines how long you last in a fight, or how much damage you can take before falling. Will ~ This stat determines how dedicated you are to the fight, and how many attacks you can dish out before burning out of energy. This stat is useful for being able to slam out more strong attacks back to back without getting tired, and also keeping your stats high. Will also determines how much energy you have left in a fight, depleting your other stats if you go too far. The most basic way to earn stats is by doing Deeds and other types of RPing. It's the only way to advance. Naturally with so many stats to take care of, it's going to be a bit of a bother to keep track of them, right? Wrong! When you gain stats, we ask you how you wish to distribute your Evolution Points [Same thing with Dojo and Market requests]. Once your request is completed, we personally update all of your stats in a public profile known as a 'Roster Page'.
The Roster shows all of the information on every character, a fusion of stats, equipment, inventory, techniques, and other things that might apply to being information on your character. While we are updating your main roster page, you can also post on your Roster Page to keep track of things like threads and player relationships [We will personally take care of your character's canon actions in chronological order]. This is a way of taking more work off of the member's back so they can enjoy the realistic experience of Dragon Soul. Naturally, I've seen quite a few DBZ RPGs in my time, and I don't think it is very realistic when someone has 5 Toughness and 2,000 Speed. The battle was just filled with a lot of dodges and let's face it, that is no real fun at all. When you are building up your stats, they need to have a kept balance or else battles just aren't as fun.
The basic calculation for stat equality is that your lowest stat needs to be at least 20% of your highest stat, or else it cannot progress any further. For example, if you want to push your Strength past 500, but your Speed is only 90, you need to put it past 100 to even put one more EP into Strength. There are many practical uses for your stats, such as learning where your character stands in comparison to an enemy, advancing in the story, or just calculating how well you can curbstomp your opponent. In Dragon Soul, we actually have another use for your stats aside from battles. Your stats also play a role in what you can do in terms of Canon Actions. To be explained in Probability, your stats can be used to figure out how much you can destroy or what you can save. The probability of being able to do something is calculated by your power level. There isn't any fancy equation for figuring all of this out, but you must stay within the realm of possibility for your PL. There is an explanation below that shows what you can possibly do with your power level. The examples are just to show how much power you hold in terms of affecting your surroundings. 5 PL ~ You can punch a wall with no real effect. Yay? 50 PL ~ Punching a wall makes cracks, you must be pretty tough. 100 PL ~ The wall crumbles when you punch it. Sweet! 200 PL ~ You could take down an entire story with a single punch. 300 PL ~ Your punch can destroy a building if you really put your mind to it. 400 PL ~ Punching out a building? You can do that on your spare time. 500 PL ~ You can take down a building with the shockwave of your techniques. 600 PL ~ Building can crumble when you power up if you really put some power into it.

Races Humans are the inhabitants of the planet known as Earth. Usually they range from five to six feet at full grown height. They have decent lifespans, ranging from fifty to one hundred years in some cases. They are a race that enjoys peace and tranquility, has made great advances in terms of technology, and are very elegant. Humans can be both good and bad, though, as none of them will ever be perfect.
Most Humans are known for their small power levels, most not being to pierce the single digit barrier even at their angriest. A select few, however, have learned from masters how to hone their energy and are bestowed the honor of being able to go toe-to-toe with some of the strongest warriors in the universe
Humans can possess one of two racial traits, being chosen at the joining application:
~ True Potential - Being able to tap into the hidden recesses of the human mind allows you to drink from a reservoir of power you originally had no clue about. - 10% boost to ki.
~ Fast Learner - Known for being the pupil, you know how to master any technique with greater ease than other races. This is using your brainpower to the max. - -10% KP cost for learning new techniques. Saiyans are the inhabitants of the planet known as Vegeta. Renowned as a great warrior race, they tend to reach heights depending on genetics. Some can be as short as four feet six inches and be considered normal, and some can grow as tall as seven feet at full grown. Although the lifespan of a Saiyan is almost as long as a human's, they can retain their youth longer than Humans, allowing them to fight longer.
Saiyans are known for being ruthless on the field of battle; notorious for being bloodthirsty monsters. They are a race built upon the idea of fighting to get what you want, conquering planet after planet for the sheer thrill of the hunt [and a little profit on the side].
Saiyans can possess one of two traits, being chosen at the joining application:
~ Warrior's Blood - A Saiyan being put near-death becomes stronger than he was before, due to his blood. - If you lose, or win with less than 20% of your health remaining, your battle gains are increased by 50%.
~ Controlled Ozaru - The tail of a Saiyan reacts to the Blutz Waves emitted by a full moon, turning them into what seems to be a giant gorilla hellbent on destruction. - This trait allows you to have Controlled Ozaru instead of Uncontroll Ozaru when you start. Frost Demons, commonly known as Changlings and Ice-jins, reside on the planet known as Cold. Their height is subject to change, as this race is known for its many transformations. Ranging from four feet to seven feet, these creatures have lifespans that can range from centuries to even multiple millennia.
The Frost Demons are notorious not only for their many transformations [used mostly to hide their true power or keep their immense power under control], but also for the Royal Empire that they lead. As the race at the head of the Frozen Empire, they are mostly very elegant in speaking terms. Not often will you come across a Frost Demon who speaks with an accent.
A Frost Demon has a choice between two traits, which can be chosen in the joining application:
~ Elegance - Frost Demons are known for being very swift with their strikes, moving with such grace that it could bring a tear to people on the sidelines of the battle. - +10% to speed.
~ Horns - Most Frost Demons have horns on their head, able to be used as an extra weapon when hands and feet can't seem to be used. - Usable as a second weapon to give an extra strike. [Usable twice per battle, doesn't take a weapon slot.] Cyborgs are not genetic beings, but any race that has been mechanically altered. They have no static lifespan; it depends on the race that they were infused with. They can vary in height depending on the race that they are infused with, but being a mechanical being has a few advantages.
Cyborgs are hard to point out, unless the aesthetics were not paid attention to in the building of the robotic man. Their voices do not show as much emotion as other races, and their energy is nearly endless. A cyborg can also keep going after a limb is torn off, being able to attach another with great ease.
Cyborgs can choose from the Cyborg trait or one of the other race's traits in the joining application:
~ Endless Pool - A Cyborg is known to have an endless supply of energy, so it should be no different for you. Although it isn't endless, you don't use as much energy as others. - -5% Energy used for techniques. Kanassians are, obviously, a race that resides on the planet known as Kanassa. They are very fish-like to humans in facial structure, seemingly having scales on their skin. They have a lifespan of one hundred to two hundred years, due to the evolution they went through after the Saiyans nearly wiped out their race. They can grow from six to seven feet in height in most cases.
Kanassians are known greatly for their future sight capabilities. These powers can be passed on to others by putting pressure on a special point in the body that can only be seen by the sight of a Kanassian. Since each person's body is different, they have a different point for future sight [in Bardock's case, this was the back of his neck].
Kanassians can choose one of two traits, being able to specify which at the joining application:
~ Future Sight - A Kanassian has the ability to see into the future, allowing them to predict the move that is about to come and dodge it accordingly. - Allows you to dodge one technique without fail [Usable once per battle.]
~ Flaming Shroud - When a Kanassian is feeling a deep pain, he can summon up flames out of pure energy to surround his body, making a shield. - Causes an extra +1 damage when using a physical attack of any kind [lasts for three actions]. Kais are men and women that reside in the higher worlds, known as Other World and the Planet of the Kais. They are known to range from five to seven feet in full grown height, and have lifespans that can lead to thousands of years in age. They are purple in skin, mostly, if not paler in some cases.
Kais are known for being the Gods of our universe, aside from the Gods of some planets like Earth. They watch over the universe for any horrible threats of any nature and attempt to nullify it. However, in this universe, they haven't done their job very well. It ended up being up to the Saiyans known as Goku and Vegeta to do their job, but that doesn't stop the Kais from being some of the strongest beings in the universe.
Kais can choose from two different traits, specifying which one in their joining application:
~ God's Defense - A Kai is known as a God, so he/she is bound to have a great defense in their arsenal. To take even the strongest of attacks without breaking a sweat makes a true warrior. - +10% to Endurance.
~ God's Edge - A Kai is usually a very peaceful creature, but when they get angry, you better start praying to him. A Kai's rage is not to be tampered with, and if you find yourself in it's path, it is tough to block. - This is a rush that is composed of three strikes that is impossible to block. [Only usable once.] Namekians are the men that reside on the planet known as New Namek. Mostly between five and six feet at full grown height, and being green in skin color, they are a very peaceful race that doesn't enjoy fighting all too much. Their lifespans range between seventy and three hundred years.
There are two clans between the Namekians: The Healers and the Dragon Clan. The Healers have the ability to heal other people and themselves in great ways, being a great asset in battle. The Dragon Clan are the Namekians that specialize in fighting, and also have the ability to regenerate lost limbs.
Namekians can choose from two traits, being able to specify which in their joining application:
~ Heal - This is the ability to heal any wounds a person might have. It can be used on either yourself or another person. - Heals 25% of a person's health [Usable once per battle.]
~ Regeneration - This is the ability of being able to heal your own wounds and regenerate lost limbs with extreme ease. It takes a little concentration to do so. - Heals 50% of the user's health [Usable once per battle.] Demons are the evil spawns of the world, in some cases being the actual culmination of evil thoughts in people's minds. Known for their demonic stature, ranging from built to fat and tall to short, demons are truly unpredictable in terms of power and behavior.
While most demons are out to wreak havoc upon the world they happen to be in, some demons actually can do good things for people. Just because you are a demon does not mean you have to be evil all the time. Most Demons are racially segregated due to the nature of their kind; they get called evil no matter what their true intentions are. The only way to show them how you act is by building up your reputation.
For demons, you can choose one trait:
~ Manipulation - Known for the 'Majin' spell, Manipulation can be used to bring an opponent under your control. There are two types of Manipulation: Permanent Manipulation and Temporary Hold. Permanent Manipulation requires the permission of both players to carry out, in which the other player's character will be under the opponent's control and receive a 20% boost to all stats. Temporary Hold allows you to control your opponent's actions for 1 full turn before they have the strength to break the hold. Hybrids are known by some as the abominations that is caused by two races cross-breeding to make a new race. They can truly differ in both height and lifespan. All of their traits are mixed in some way [you can choose the appearance].
As for traits, they can be chosen between the two races that created the hybrid. There are many unknown races in the world that have no true origin, or choose not to give it out. To save time, we call these organisms 'Aliens'. They vary greatly in height, skin color, and natural build. They can range from good to evil in reputation and aren't really the same from one to the other.
Aliens only have one trait:
~ Unknown Force - Your latent power can awaken for a moment to boost your stats by 10% for two turns.

Roleplaying Writing means a lot of things to many different people. It can be a bunch of paragraphs slammed together to look somewhat like a story without much effort put into it. It could be a single stanza in a wondrous poem that leaves the reader breathless. It could even be just a few simple paragraphs that tell the epic story of a great warrior set out on saving his people. The term 'writing' has many definitions, and I am set out to accept all types.
When I traveled through different RPG sites, did you know some people actually roleplayed through song lyrics and/or poetry alone? For some of my veterans, you might be calling blasphemy, but these guys had some skills. What I'm trying to say with this is: I will accept any writing that involves writing thing down, as we truly focus on quality, even though word count plays a good part as well.
You can't truly advance in this game without knowing how to write, but if you don't really know how to write, fret not! This game is still open to non-writers, but you have to be willing to learn. Our staff, even me, will be happy to help you learn all types of writing techniques. It's even great to learn for your bothersome English classes [Gosh, I remember struggling in those...]!
The basic rewards for writing are:
5 EXP, 25 Z/75 C, and 1 EP per 50 words.
Quality is also taken in as a factor, do not worry! You'll find that quality actually plays a big role in getting to the top dogs of the site! Deeds are not like the deeds to the house [you know who I'm talking about], but they are the actions you do outside of your daily routine. Whether this is a good or a bad deed, there is always some affect it can have on the world around you. If you took out a building, that has a great affect on how people see you, but we're getting a bit off track. Deeds are somewhat like missions: you can take one on and be on your way with doing it, but could you realistically do the deed, then have someone else do the exact same thing at the exact same time? Here on Dragon Soul, where reality is the priority [next to the enjoyment of the members] we have come up with a system for this. Each planet has a total of seven Deeds that you can take on. You have to make a request for the certain deed in the Deed Requests thread [each planet will have their own pinned], and the first one to it gets to take it on. While more than one person can take this on, two people cannot do the same Deed separately. Every week, all of the Deeds are switched out for new ones. This is so we can keep the content fresh and real for all of our members to have a unique experience. If you do have a Deed from last week and finish it a week later, please note this when turning it in for a grade. An example of a Deed would be: Name ~ A Disturbance Turned Rescue [This is the name of the Deed; please forgive us if we can't be so creative with it all the time] Description ~ Something is going on in West City. You decide to go check it out for yourself, and it turns out a building is falling before your very eyes! They said that some short guy with spiky hair [Vegeta, according to the Main Line] was shooting out these fancy flares and hit a building. Can you save the people inside and figure out who this menace might be?
Difficulty ~ Medium [Difficulty is how hard the Deed will be to complete' there are five different difficulties: Easy, Medium, Hard, Intense, and Legendary.]
Canon Actions Required ~ 4 [Canon actions are something new. Instead of focusing on word count, I just want you to make a good story. A canon-worthy action goes from destroying a building to destroying a whole planet, but be sure you can do it! I will have a table of possible things you can do with your current power.]We're not lawyers, Mr. Admin-Guy! Yes, I know that, but these are a bit different from the boring contracts you might see in your daily lives. A Contract is where you negotiate with a shady character about taking someone down. Naturally, there are good and bad ways of getting this done.
The pure way of doing Contracts is going to the local police force. All planets have one of these, so it isn't too hard to find one. The police will tell you about some of the more notorious criminals and offer you a reward for their capture. While this is a good thing to do, in some rare cases, you will be allowed to kill the criminal. Of course, this won't be detrimental to your alignment for you goodie two-shoes, but do not kill criminals unless stated unless you feel like having the police barking at you.
The more evil way of doing Contracts is talking to some of the more shady characters on the street. They basically show you a picture of either some strong guy or a good guy that's been messing with their business and offer you a reward to take the sucker out. Death is entirely alright here unless otherwise stated in the Contact, so have fun with it! Though if the client notices you are hesitating, he can choose to keep his reward to himself.
Contracts will work like battles; a staff member will control the person stated in the Contract and have an actual battle with you. Most will have an intent to kill, but some of the pure heroes will spare you if they are nice enough to do so. Beware: you can die when trying to complete a Contract! Personal Roleplaying is where you tend to work solo. You can do stories by yourself, but I can tell you it's a bit more difficult to do. Although, it really helps when you're trying to do some training or do some important character development that doesn't need to be disturbed. You don't have to do a Deed, as you can do stories on your own as well, but they aren't free from the rules of explaining what you did within them. No going crazy either, as I can easily deem your actions outside of your power.
Group Roleplaying is where you decide to write with a group. This is a bit more fun, as you get to see other characters react to your own actions and keep moving the story along with each different post. Of course, when roleplaying in a group, you will receive a bonus for doing so, as well as with personal roleplaying.
Here are the special rewards for doing so:
Personal Roleplaying ~ 3% Boost to Rewards [Maxes out at 30%] and 1 Medallion per 2,000 words.
Group Roleplaying ~ 2% Boost to Rewards [Increases by 1% per person involved, maxing out at 8%] and 1 Medallion per 2,000 words. [Note: To receive the rewards, all players must pierce 2,000 words.]
Both have their advantages, but it's good to stay in the middle. Battling is when two or more members wish to have combat with each other. The no godmodding/metagaming rule will apply to these very strictly. Battling is also a tender subject for some, as they can really ruin reputations when you accidentally GM or MG, but it can happen. There are three different ways you can battle:
~ When you are both on the same planet and just wish to fight each other. Bear in mind that when this kind of battle is declared, both of the members have to give their public consent before the battle can truly be held.
~ When one of you holds a Divine Piece or an item that has less than 10 inventory left [We will have a list of items under this condition]. Since the item is rare, battles can be forced onto those in the same planet. The member who possesses the rare item can either choose to fight, or he/she can surrender and give the item up without a fight.
~ When someone has 10,000 zeni/30,000 cyros, they are considered a rich son of a Saiyan. You can steal money from these people by challenging them to a battle. If you manage to win, you can steal 50% of their zeni [not counting outside abilities you might have at this time].
The rewards for Battles are as follows:
WIN ~ 100 XP + 10% of opponent's XP, 10% of the opponent's zeni, 45 EP, and 3 Medallions
LOSE ~ 50 XP + 5% of opponent's XP, 20 EP, and 1 Medallion
DEATH ~ 50 XP + 5% of opponent's XP, 20 EP, and 1 Medallion
How battles work will be explained more below, in Battles. Sparring is when you simply have a fake fight with someone, whether it is just playing around with them or doing some training. Sparring can be done twice a week, and can only be done if you are both on the same planet. When sparring, keep in mind that it is merely like a mock battle, so stats are unnecessary.
The rewards for sparring are:
25 XP, 150 Z/450 C, and 5 EP
Sparring will be explained more in Battles. On the multitude of planets we do have, there are these special items called Divine Pieces. There are special items said to have been crafted by the gods, and each of them are extremely powerful in their own special way. While they do fetch a pretty penny when auctioned, they also attract unnecessary attention to your character, being able to force them into a battle.
When seeking out a Divine Pieces, it will take you a total of 5 days to find this item. After this, you will need to write down a 5,000 word story of how you found this item. At the beginning, gods do tend to guard these pieces [hint for a story -wink-] but you don't have to get a staff member to play as the god. You can just defeat them yourself.
A list of the planet's Divine Pieces will be featured on the right sidebars along with the rest of the information that planet has.
